Diodes has released its first silicon carbide (SiC) Schottky barrier diodes, including 11 devices rated at 650 V and 8 devices rated at 1200 V. The 650-V DSCxxA065 series provides current ratings of 4 A, 6 A, 8 A, and 10 A, while the 1200-V DSCxx120 series carries current ratings of 2 A, 5 A, and 10 A. The Schottky diodes are also available in a choice of three packages: surface-mount TO-252-2 (Type WX), through-hole TO-220AC (Type WX), and ITO-220AC (Type WX-NC).
Offering improved efficiency and high-temperature reliability, the wide-bandgap diodes are well-suited for AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC switching converters, photovoltaic inverters, uninterruptable power supplies, and industrial motor drives. Compared to silicon-based devices, these silicon carbide Schottky barrier diodes provide power supply designers with multiple performance benefits. These benefits include negligible switching losses due to low capacitive charge, low forward voltage, reduced heat dissipation, and high surge current capability.
Prices for the DSCxxA065 and DSCxx120 series range from $1.24 to $2.33 and $1.70 to $6.68, respectively, in lots of 1000 units.
